Two teenagers, believed to be linked to the August 2024 cyberattack on Transport for London, have been arrested in the United Kingdom. Believed to be members of the notorious Scattered Spider hacking collective, 18-year-old Owen Flowers from Walsall and 19-year-old Thalha Jubair from East London are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court today. Flowers was previously arrested for his alleged involvement in the TfL attack in September 2024, but was released on bail after being que

44 of the Best Movies on Netflix You Should Stream Right Now

In the 10 years since releasing its first original film, Beasts of No Nation, Netflix has evolved into a power player in the movie scene. It's earned honors at award shows including the Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmys. The streaming giant won three Oscars in 2025, and action-thriller Rebel Ridge just nabbed an Emmy Award this week for Best TV Movie (the sentimental Vince Vaughn comedy Nonnas was nominated in the same category and is worth a watch, too). Popular films like KPop Demon Hunters, wh

I Love Hallmark Movies, but This New Netflix Flick Shakes Up the Rom-Com Formula

You could argue that the newly released Miranda Cosgrove romance movie, The Wrong Paris, which arrived on Netflix last week, could have been a Hallmark movie. As someone who covers a lot of streaming and television content, I've watched at least 100 Hallmark movies over the course of my career, and the plot of The Wrong Paris, at least on paper, is the perfect Hallmark film. In it, a broke artist named Dawn (Cosgrove) applies to a dating show, thinking it takes place in Paris, France, but to he

The New ‘Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Trailer’ Is a Dark Slaughterfest

We’re less than a month out from Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, Netflix’s animated series based on Ubisoft’s old Tom Clancy stealth games. After an initial showing promising the return of leading man Sam Fisher (voiced by Liev Schreiber), this new trailer tells us what the thing is about and what our hero’s up against. The series sees Sam getting back in the field when operative Zinnia McKenna (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) comes to him with a watch containing blueprints for a potentially dangerous weapon

Liam Hemsworth is Geralt in the first Witcher season 4 trailer

Posts from this author will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed. It’s been a few years since Netflix confirmed that Liam Hemsworth would be taking over as Geralt of Rivia in the live-action Witcher series. And while we caught a brief glimpse of him in action last year, the first proper clip from season 4 of the show reveals just how Hemsworth will be inhabiting the role — including his take on Geralt’s signature growling voice. In addition to giving us a better look at G

Saul "Canelo" Álvarez and Terence Crawford step into the ring tonight in a pro boxing matchup that will see Álvarez defending his title as super middleweight champion. As the crowd descends upon Las Vegas to watch the pair square up, the question lingers in the air of whether Crawford will beef up his weight -- and by how much -- to meet his opponent's. Netflix’s best movies deserve more time on the big screen

Like the rest of the Knives Out movies, Wake Up Dead Man is full of extremely fun revelations — the kind that can turn the whodunit story on its head and, as was the case for many of those attending the film’s premiere in Toronto, Canada, produce audible gasps. Those shared moments of surprise are part of what makes the movie such a great theatrical experience, so it sucks that most people won’t get the opportunity to see it in a theater at all. Wake Up Dead Man isn’t alone. Netflix was very pr

Everything About Bitflags: How to store up to 32 booleans in one value?

When I was younger and I was involved in reverse engineering communities and systems programming, there was this concept called bit flags. They were a standard way of storing a pack of true or false values in ... actually a single value - a function parameter, local variable or entry in some configuration. I found nothing fascinating about that back then and just used it on a regular basis, as every other engineer was. Long time after that and after shifting my focus to web development I just r

Netflix's animated Tomb Raider series is ending with its second season

Netflix has shared a pair of updates about its animated Tomb Raider show. The second season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will air on the streaming service on December 11. However, that second season will also be the final one for the project. Legendary Television is behind the show, which premiered in October 2024 on Netflix and stars Hayley Atwell of MCU fame as the titular Tomb Raider. If you simply can't get enough of Lara and her adventures in archeology, you have other options

Sony’s CEO on Seeing ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Become a Big Hit… for Netflix

The success of KPop Demon Hunters has been one of the stories of the summer. Sure, Lilo & Stitch was the highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office. Yes, Superman did well enough to launch the DC Universe. And of course, it was awesome to see an original genre film like Weapons clean up. But above all that, it’s the animated musical that became not only Netflix’s biggest movie ever but also a box office hit in a single weekend that history will look back on with most interest. Especially

Netflix now lets you (almost) easily share clips of your favorite shows

The Netflix app now lets you select the start and end points of a clip, so you can share it outside the app. Here’s how it works. You can now save a clip, and then share it outside the Netflix app Historically, most streaming services have been allergic to sharing features, as they feared they would facilitate piracy. For many years, even simple screenshots were a no-no. One day, they realized that the potential gains from a random moment of an original movie or show going viral outweighed th

Watch Lady Gaga’s Tim Burton-Directed Video for Her ‘Wednesday’ Dance Jam

There was a lot of hype ahead of Lady Gaga’s appearance on Netflix’s Wednesday, but now that all of season two has dropped, it’s clear that her new song, “The Dead Dance,” has an equally important presence in the series. No spoilers if you haven’t binged the new episodes yet, but you can also enjoy the song on its own thanks to the Tim Burton-directed music video. Though Burton has a cinematic filmography stretching back 40 years—all the way to 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, his feature debut—

Netflix adds Twitch-like clipping function, complete with an editor

Netflix has upgraded its Moments feature for the mobile app. It already lets users save iconic scenes, but now there's a simple editor to bring it in line with something like Twitch's clipping tool. Viewers can use the tool to set start and end points, so they can turn preferred scenes into "full clips to save, relive and share anytime." Just tap the "Clip" button when watching something on mobile and the new editor will pop up. Once something is saved, it'll reside in the "My Netflix" tab. The

Netflix updates its Moments feature to give users greater control over scene clipping

Netflix launched a scene-clipping feature for mobile last year called “Moments,” which lets users quickly save their favorite scenes from shows and movies within the Netflix app. The streaming giant rolled out an update on Wednesday, allowing users to specify both a starting point and an endpoint when saving a scene. People now have the option to adjust the scene’s ending, allowing them to create clips that are as long or as short as they prefer. Previously, users could only set a starting poin

‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ To Debut in Theaters Before Netflix

As anticipation grows for the third installment in Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out murder mystery series, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Netflix has revealed that the upcoming film will have a limited theatrical release before it premieres on the streamer. According to Variety, Wake Up Dead Man will have a two-week run in select theaters across the U.S., starting on November 26 until December 12—the day the film premieres on Netflix. The movie stars former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who

The Films and Shows You Should Be Streaming in September 2025

A new era of streaming selections is here. For the past several years, our monthly column, the Nerd’s Watch, has been the place to find out all the best genre titles coming to the biggest streaming services. It wasn’t a complete list. We just posted the titles we think you’d care about, but it was still long, and frankly, it was hard to pick out the best of the best. The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (September 1 on Netflix) Whether or not we’ll see Andrew Garfield as Spider-

'The Wrong Paris,' 'aka Charlie Sheen' and More New Netflix Movies You Shouldn't Miss This September

Netflix's September movie lineup is a sampler of everything the streaming service has become known for: riveting, real-life documentaries, family-friendly romances and great films from all over the world. One of the month's biggest titles is sure to be aka Charlie Sheen, the two-part documentary about the actor's life. Sheen has been on a path to sobriety and reflects on his often chaotic life, which was fodder for tabloids for decades. That film arrives on Sept. 10. In The Wrong Paris, out Se

My Trip Through Netflix's Zodiac Hub Landed Me on a Hidden-Gem Series

Earlier this week, I received an email from the communications team at Netflix announcing the debut of a new astrology hub on the streaming platform. According to the release, these curated playlists include show and movie recommendations that "reflect the character traits and themes most associated with that sign." They don't include this week's horoscope. At least for now. Lots of people feel strongly about their zodiac sign and how it affects their lives. While I don't normally give much tho

Turning KPop Demon Hunters into a franchise is going to take some smart strategizing

is a reporter focusing on film, TV, and pop culture. Before The Verge, he wrote about comic books, labor, race, and more at io9 and Gizmodo for almost five years. When you watch KPop Demon Hunters, it is easy to see why it has become the most popular movie that Netflix has ever released. The animated musical’s story about a trio of pop stars tasked with protecting humanity from monsters is familiar, but refreshingly different and infinitely more stylish than other narratives like it. The soundt

Don’t Worry, ‘Wednesday’ Fans, the Coma Is Almost Over

The Wednesday hype might seemingly be waning, but it’s worth noting that perhaps the Tim Burton series could just be experiencing a lull thanks to its strange release schedule. With season two part one’s debut going from the top of the streamer’s charts to dropping 50%, according to What’s on Netflix, this might just be a sign that fans are eagerly awaiting to binge the season in full. One of our criticisms of the staggered summer and fall releases was that despite this season being the best ye

Londoners told to wear headphones on public transit

You would think certain things would be blindingly obvious, among them “if you are listening to music or a video on your phone on public transit, wear headphones.” But anyone who regularly uses transit services can tell you that this is definitely not the case. London has now decided to take executive action with a PR campaign … I’m not sure exactly what caused it, but at some point a number of years ago, people seemed to switch from holding phones to their ear to make calls, to holding them f
