Concerts and Airports Hit by Measles Exposures. Do You Need Another Measles Booster?

Although the state of New Jersey has reported only three recent cases of measles, two major events may have sharply increased the odds of an outbreak in the state. On May 15, the state warned residents and travelers about an exposure event at the troubled Newark Airport, on May 12 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. ET. On May 20, the New Jersey Department of Health announced that a person infected with measles attended the sold-out Shakira concert at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on the night of May 15. This year's measles outbreak was first reported in West Texas and has now led to more than 1,000 cases in at least 30 states and Washington, DC, according to NBC News.
