Once again, our friends over at Relay have launched their annual campaign to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Relay community has raised over $4 million for St. Jude since 2019.
I’ve set up a 9to5Mac fundraising page for St. Jude through the Relay campaign. You can visit that page to make your donation and earn some rewards in the process.
St. Jude is a decades-old children’s research hospital based in Tennessee that aims to find new treatments and cures for childhood cancer and other diseases. One of the organization’s core principles is that every family can receive the care they need without incurring a bill for that treatment.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened 50 years ago. It also shares the breakthroughs it makes to help save thousands more children around the world.
In a post on 512 Pixels, Relay cofounder Stephen Hackett says:
As I’m sure you know, St. Jude is a special place. It is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer, and other life-threatening diseases. If that sounds expensive, it’s because it is, but the bill isn’t passed to the families of patients. At St. Jude, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
On The Enthusiast, Relay cofounder Myke Hurley says:
I was first introduced to St. Jude nearly 15 years ago, when I visited the Hackett family and had the chance to tour the hospital. Seeing their incredible work firsthand — and the way they supported families like the Hacketts — left a massive impression on me. I have a vivid memory of standing in the entrance area as the tour was ending, feeling that I had to do something to support this place. I had never experienced an institution like it — somewhere that could have been filled with sadness, yet was instead full of hope. That same sense has stayed with me every year for the last six years, and for as long as I am able, I will continue to support this incredible place.

And most importantly, you’re donating to support St. Jude’s mission of working until no child dies from cancer. Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors.
