In a rare outage, Google Maps is down and will not load as of 1 p.m. PT on Thursday. This is impacting the Android and iOS apps. The map layer itself — regardless of location — is not properly loading, with rough outlines appearing instead. In (local) areas where the map is cached, places/listings do not appear. This in turn impacts navigation/directions. Users around the world are reporting issues. The Google Maps website is not impacted.
