It’s just a few short months until Disney returns to Zootopia once more, and after our last couple looks at the sequel have focused on smoothing over the cracks in Judy and Nick’s relationship, this latest one actually tells us just what’s going on in the film. Today Disney released the final trailer for Zootopia 2, focusing on the plight of its mysterious new snake character, Gary De’Snake (played by Indiana Jones and Everything Everywhere icon Ke Huy Quan). Initially thinking they’re on a case for the ZPD to prove that Zootopia’s first fox and rabbit police officers can truly work together, the duo instead discover a conspiracy about Zootopia’s lack of reptile civilians—leading them on an adventure out of the hustle and bustle of the city and across swamps, deserts, and more to bring the truth to light. As well as actually just showing us what the film is about instead of largely focusing on a single scene like the last trailer did, this new look also sees the sequel trying for musical virality once more after Shakira’s turn as the pop starlet Gazelle singing “Try Everything” in the original film. Now, she’s back with “Zoo,” which we get to hear a bit of in this trailer. The new song, releasing ahead of the film on October 10, is produced and written by Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin, who will appear in the movie as a pair of sheep named—brace yourselves—Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin, respectively. It definitely seems like Zootopia 2 is hoping lightning strikes twice when it comes to replicating the success of the original—we’ll see if it succeeds when the sequel slithers into theaters November 26
