The Electric State‘s New Trailer Makes For a Funky Robot Revolution

The Russo brothers’ latest action epic doesn’t look much like the hauntingly dystopian vision Simon Stålenhag laid out in his 2018 graphic novel, The Electric State, but has come up with an answer to those concerns in its latest trailer. The answer is “a liberal application of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch,” however, so maybe how on-board you are might already be decided. Today Netflix dropped the second and final trailer for Joe and Anthony Russo’s spin on Stålenhag’s sci-fi world. Loosely following the same story touched on Stålenhag’s original, the film follows a young girl (Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown) as she travels across the dystopian U.S. on the hunt for her lost brother. Forced to team up with a renegade smuggler named Keats (Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt), film takes a pretty big divergence from the original work from there, as the two and their robot allies find themselves rising up to demand rights for the sentient machines and rebel against the seedy ruli ...
