Apple is working to introduce a new Enhanced Safety Alerts setting on iOS 26.2. Here are the details.

New tone and new options for safety alerts

In today’s release of iOS 26.2 developer beta 1, Apple included a new section called Enhanced Alerts under Settings > Notifications.

Upon tapping the new Enhanced Safety Alerts option, users in supported regions will be able to toggle switches for earthquake alerts and imminent threat alerts, in addition to a privacy option that shares “your approximate location with Apple to improve the timeliness and reliability of Enhanced Safety Alerts”.

The new Enhanced Safety Alerts option adds to the current Government Alerts section that offers AMBER Alerts, Public Safety Alerts, Test Alerts, as well as an Emergency Alerts section, with granular controls for location precision, and sound.
