Apple has just released iOS 18.7.2, a new software update for iPhone that is “recommended for all users” not yet running iOS 26.
Earlier this week iOS 26.1 arrived, bringing a variety of new features for iPhone. But now, Apple has also shipped a fresh update for users who have not yet upgraded to iOS 26.
iOS 18.7.2 is a minor update that brings many of the same security improvements found in iOS 26.1 to iOS 18 users. iPadOS 18.7.2 has also been released with a focus on security.
Here are Apple’s very brief release notes:
This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/100100
Apple’s security website has now been updated with the specific fixes implemented in today’s release. They include patches for App Store, Audio, Camera, Find My, Notes, and more.
If you’ve been holding out moving your iPhone to iOS 26, the recent 26.1 release might be a good time to upgrade. Apple tends to have fixed a lot of the bugs originally introduced in its major x.0 versions by the time x.1 rolls around.
That said, if you’re content sticking with iOS 18 for now, be sure to install iOS 18.7.2. It won’t bring you any new features, but it will ensure your iPhone is up to date on all the latest security improvements.
Are you still running iOS 18, and if so, why haven’t you upgraded yet? Let us know in the comments.
