Stock markets did just fine during the government shutdown as investors shrugged off dysfunction in Congress

Flights, services, and paychecks for federal workers were all seriously disrupted during the 43-day shutdown. Markets mostly just hummed along. Forty-three days later, the U.S. government shutdown has come to an end. While it wreaked havoc on government services, flights, and paychecks for federal workers, stock market appears to have come through it unscathed.
