The iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch OLED display, offering great color accuracy, contrast, and detailing on a small screen. The 48MP Fusion Camera gives you the power of two cameras in one lens for filming and shooting photos in 4K resolution, and with Dolby Vision HDR support, even personal home videos will have a professional look. The aerospace-grade aluminum frame uses Apple's Ceramic Shield coating to help protect delicate components from bumps and drops, as well as the occasional spill. And with a 26-hour battery life, you can talk, text, and stream all day before you need to think about topping up your phone.

So how do you get your free iPhone 16e from Metro? New customers who sign up for a qualifying phone plan have to purchase the iPhone 16e either online or in-store for $100 (which is a $500 discount already) if you keep your current phone number, as well as any applicable sales taxes. After three months of service, Metro by T-Mobile will send you a link to a claims form for a $100 prepaid Mastercard. (If you want a completely new phone number, you'll pay $300 for the phone when you sign up for the $50/month plan with AutoPay, but there's no Mastercard rebate.)
When you bring your number over, it's more like the phone pays for itself, or at least mostly pays for itself, after 90 days, rather than being free from the outset. It's still a decent deal just in time for the holidays as parents look for ways to save money while checking big-ticket tech items off their shopping lists.
Qualifying Metro plans start at $40 per month, with all taxes and fees included, so you pay one flat rate for unlimited talk, text, and data. Plans at higher tiers offer up to 25GB of hotspot data and a 100GB Google One membership, so you can always stay connected even when you can't access the T-Mobile LTE network. And if you sign up or switch now, you'll lock in your phone plan price for five years, which means you can take advantage of big savings now to give yourself a bit of breathing room in the future.
If you're looking for a budget phone that will eventually pay for itself, don't miss this Metro by T-Mobile deal on the iPhone 16e.
