Disclaimer This super hot deal has pushed Amazon's delivery back to the new year, but we've found the same SSD for just £1 more at Currys, and it'll arrive in just a couple of days. This article has been updated to reflect the change in vendor for the deal.
Alarm bells are ringing in the PC hardware world, with the price of flash memory skyrocketing, which makes this Samsung gaming SSD deal all the more sweet. Ahead of Black Friday, Currys has dropped the price of this 1TB Samsung 990 Evo Plus SSD to just £59.99. We've also seen it for sale at Amazon here for a record low £58.99, according to Camelcamelcamel data, but with delivery now pushed back to the new year. This is one deal on storage that you simply can’t ignore right now, given the precarious price rises that are hitting SSDs right now.
With warnings that NAND flash prices will stay high until 2027, according to storage manufacturers, there’s a real possibility that this is one of the lowest prices we’ll see for an SSD from a well-known brand for some time. You’re not getting a dud here, either, as the Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a solid option if you’re looking for an M.2 SSD upgrade with fast PCIe 4.0 speeds.
Save 28% Samsung 990 Evo Plus 1TB: was £83.49 now £59.99 at Currys The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is an M.2 2280 SSD with sequential read and write speeds of 7,150MB/s and 6,300MB/s apiece. That makes it one of the fastest options available if you're looking to install it in a PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot. It does offer PCIe 5.0 support, but only over two lanes, so your speeds will remain the same.
That’s because it delivers some of the fastest speeds you’ll see at PCIe 4.0, with sequential read and write speeds of 7,250MB/s and 6,300MB/s each. It operates over four lanes at PCIe 4.0, or just two at PCIe 5.0. That means that, while it does technically offer PCIe 5.0 support, you aren’t going to see a performance boost in any PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot. The flip side is that you won’t see a performance drop, either. You can check out our Samsung 990 Evo Plus review for a deep dive into the technical details.

Samsung offers a five-year warranty with up to 600TB of writes per TB capacity for the 990 Evo Plus. As we’re only recommending the 1TB drive on sale here, that means you’re covered for 600TB's worth of writes to your drive, but if you do opt for a larger capacity drive, that will increase.
The Samsung 990 Evo Plus would make for a great upgrade over an older SATA or PCIe 3.0 gen SSD, or as a second drive for all of your bigger apps and games, or even as your main drive in a system with only PCIe 4.0 support. With a £59.99 sale price, you’re going to struggle to find a drive this fast and this cheap from a reputable brand, so if you’re worried about running out of storage, now is your chance to pick up a serious bargain.
