Apple's latest M5 processor has barely been out of the gates, but over this Black Friday sales period, we are already seeing a huge discount on Apple's 2025 edition of the MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, available at Amazon for just $1,549. Apple's hardware refresh of the 14-inch MacBook Pro upgrades the main processor from the M4 to the M5, providing a healthy boost in CPU performance over the M4 found in last year’s base 14-inch MacBook Pro and also a significant uplift in SSD performance.

The MacBook Pro 14 features Apple's M5 chip with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. A configuration with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is seeing one of its first deals ever for Black Friday.

We had the chance to review the MacBook Pro 14-Inch (M5 Pro 2025) and found that the M5 chip delivers solid performance gains over its predecessor, the SSD performance has greatly improved, and the speaker system is still a cut above the competition.

However, memory and SSD upgrades remain very expensive, there's still no Wi-Fi 7, even though the Apple N1 chip is available in other devices, and although very pretty, the Space Black color is a fingerprint magnet. We gave the MacBook Pro 14 (with M5) 4 out of 5 stars, citing its improved performance, and at this price, it's a great opportunity to upgrade.

The MacBook Pro 14 comes with a familiar selection of ports, including three Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full-size SDXC card reader, HDMI 2.1, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a MagSafe 3 connector.

This latest MacBook Pro delivers anywhere from 10- to 20% improvements over the prior generation in CPU performance. Using the Geekbench 6 synthetic CPU benchmark, our system achieved a single-core score of 4,288, roughly a 10% boost over the preceding MacBook Pro with the M4 chip. The multi-core score saw an uplifting to 17,926 versus 15,114 on the M4 (just over an 18% uplift).
