Apple’s annual New Year Sale is back in Japan, bringing Apple Gift Cards worth up to ¥38,000 (roughly $255) and a free limited-edition AirTag on select iPhone purchases. Here are the details.

Gift cards and free limited-edition AirTag

From January 2 to January 5, Apple is running its annual New Year Sale in Japan across iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and select accessories.

But perhaps more interesting is the fact that eligible iPhone purchases will also qualify for a free limited-edition AirTag.

The special AirTag features a Daruma engraving, a traditional Japanese symbol associated with good luck and the fulfillment of wishes.

Apple says the AirTag is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a total of 65,000 units available during the promotion.

In addition to the AirTag, Apple is offering gift cards across multiple product categories, with values varying by product line, similar to its Back to School promotions in the U.S. and other countries.

During the promotion, iPhone purchases qualify for gift cards worth up to ¥12,000 (roughly $80), while Mac buyers can receive up to ¥38,000 (roughly $255). iPad purchases are eligible for up to ¥15,000 (roughly $100) in gift cards, Apple Watch purchases qualify for up to ¥8,000 (roughly $54), and AirPods purchases are eligible for up to ¥12,000 (roughly $80).

Select accessories, including Apple TV 4K, HomePod, Magic Keyboard, and others, qualify for up to ¥8,000 (roughly $54) in gift cards.

The full terms of the promotion are now available on Apple’s Japan online store.
