Apple TV may have removed the "Plus "from its name, but that doesn't mean the shows on the streaming service have lost their appeal. In fact, the platform offers a growing roster of top-tier programs to choose from. And I'm not just talking about the popular titles like Severance, Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. Those shows are great, but they merely scratch the surface of the brilliance that Apple provides.
Apple rarely promotes the movies and shows on Apple TV. It's a unique marketing strategy in that it relies on word of mouth and organic discovery to build a show's momentum. It also helps to have curated lists like this one, I suppose. Many of the titles in the guide I've compiled below have received rave reviews and a variety of awards, but they still deserve a shout-out.
If you're unsure where to start with Apple TV, don't worry. I'm here to help nudge you in the right direction.
Aside from the shows I mentioned above -- and Seth Rogen's Emmy-winning comedy The Studio, which is absolutely a must-watch -- did you know Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy hosts his own Emmy-nominated travel show? That's here. As is Jason Momoa's groundbreaking Polynesian-led drama about the unification of the Hawaiian Islands. And you best believe I'd included Apple's most-watched series of all time, Pluribus, to the roundup.
I've compiled a separate list of Apple TV's best sci-fi TV shows. So check that out when you're done here.
The 25 shows featured below are led by top-notch talent. These dramas, comedies and thrillers are well-written and push the envelope in some way. Do you want something thought-provoking, heart-wrenching or knee-slapping? You've come to the right place. I'll be updating this list regularly, so please check back for new additions.
