Thousands of Monzo bank customers report app outage

Thousands of Monzo customers have reported having difficulties accessing the bank's mobile app.

Platform outage monitor Downdetector saw more than 4,000 reports from users complaining of problems on Thursday afternoon.

The company has acknowledged "experiencing an issue" with its app - a web page displaying the status of Monzo services says the firm is "continuing to investigate this issue".

A Monzo spokesperson said it had activated a back-up banking service which meant customers could still make card payments.
