Liverpool return to European action with a testing trip to the south of France, as they take on a Marseille team in big need of a win to keep their place in the playoff zone.
The Reds come into their penultimate group phase match on a 12-game unbeaten run across all competitions. Despite that streak, Arne Slot's men look far from confident heading into this game after a below-par showing in their 1-1 draw with Premier League relegation candidates Burnley at the weekend.
While the visitors find themselves just outside the automatic qualification spots in ninth, Marseille look destined for the playoffs in 16th. Having looked on the brink of an early exit, back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Union Saint-Gilloise mean the Phocéens are now looking upward in the standings, with a top-eight finish still not out of the question for Roberto De Zerbi's men.
