We’re expecting to see two MacBook Pro launches this year. The first, expected sometime this month, is an M5 Pro and M5 Max version of the current design. But the far more exciting prospect is an all-new MacBook Pro design later in the year.
A new supply chain report says that Samsung is gearing up for production of the OLED panels for the new machine and that it will launch in the final three months of this year …
The current MacBook Pro is available with a base M5 chip, and we’re expecting the more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max versions to launch imminently. It’s been suggested that the latter will deliver “astounding” Geekbench scores. It may also offer greater flexibility with CPU and GPU options.
It had been thought that Apple might launch it alongside Apple Creator Studio, but that of course didn’t happen. Reports are now pointing to a launch alongside macOS 26.3 in the coming weeks.
All-new MacBook Pro design
While some may jump at the chance to buy a more powerful version of the existing model, it’s likely that most people eyeing a MacBook Pro upgrade will wait until the long-rumored all-new MacBook Pro design. This will mark the first significant change to the form factor in five years.
We’re expecting the new design to be slimmer, with a punch hole for the FaceTime camera instead of the existing notch, and there is a chance that it might offer a touchscreen for the first time. However, the feature exciting most people is Apple finally switching from IPS LCD to an OLED screen.
Reportedly launching in Q4
The OLED panel is being made by Samsung and a new supply chain report in The Elec says that it will launch in the final quarter of this year.
Samsung Display will make the first OLED MacBook panel that Apple will launch in the fourth quarter of this year in the A6 line. It was designed as two models, 14 inches and 16 inches. Samsung Display’s shipment target is said to be 2 million units by the end of this year.
