The iPhone 18 Pro is only about six months away, and the latest rumors introduce some clarity but also fresh ambiguity into Apple’s purported plans for the device.
From a design standpoint, we’ve been expecting several changes:
Thicker frame for a larger battery Dynamic Island that’s about 35% smaller New colors, and a unified look on the back
Today, two noteworthy Weibo leakers have offered fresh input on what’s coming.
A new post from Ice Universe provides clarity on how much thicker the device is getting.
He says that iPhone 18 Pro Max will be 8.8mm thick.
For context, iPhone 17 Pro Max is 8.75mm thick, and iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm. So the increase this year is much smaller than it was with the iPhone 17.
Separately, Digital Chat Station posted that Apple is considering reusing some of the molds from iPhone 17 Pro for the iPhone 18 Pro line.
