Why This Matters

Apple TV's new animated series 'My Brother the Minotaur' highlights the platform's commitment to diverse, family-friendly content rooted in folklore and universal themes. This addition not only broadens Apple's entertainment offerings but also emphasizes storytelling that resonates with both children and adults, fostering inclusivity and cultural exploration in the streaming space.

Key Takeaways

The new kids and family adventure premieres globally on April 24, featuring the voices of Brian Cox (Succession, Adaptation), and Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Andor), among others. Here’s what to expect.

’An epic blend of folklore, mystery and mythic adventure’

The new show, titled “My Brother the Minotaur,” will premiere on Friday, April 24, and adds to Apple TV’s ever-expanding catalogue of kids and family shows, which also includes Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical, Lulu Is a Rhinoceros, and Frog and Toad.

Apple says that My Brother the Minotaur centers “on universal themes of growing up, feeling different and discovering where you belong,” adding that it “celebrates finding the people who truly see you, and the places that feel like home.”

In addition to Cox and Serkis, the show will feature voices of Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon), and T’Nia Miller (Years and Years).

Here’s My Brother the Minotaur’s general premise, according to Apple:

A thrilling mix of folklore, mystery and adventure about a young minotaur – half boy, half bull – found and raised in the human world. With the help of his fiercely loyal human brother, he recruits a bold group of friends to uncover the mystery of his minotaur past and fulfill his destiny, all while battling dark forces determined to see him fail.

Apple hasn’t published a trailer for My Brother the Minotaur, but it should become available as we approach the launch date.
