Why This Matters

The recent claims about the iPhone 18 Pro featuring a smaller Dynamic Island are based on unverified sources, casting doubt on their accuracy. While Apple may aim to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island in future models, these specific leaks lack credible confirmation. The development hints at Apple's ongoing efforts to refine its display and user interface, but the details remain uncertain.

Key Takeaways

Two new claims that the iPhone 18 Pro will be getting a smaller Dynamic Island are getting a lot of attention at present. However, all may not be as it appears …

The first claim came from a completely unknown account on X named @earlyappleleaks.

Able to share this now. First look at iPhone 18 Pros shrunken Dynamic Island. Stay (sic) the same on base models.

This account has zero track record of Apple leaks and just a few hundred followers.

The claim appeared to gain credibility when it was backed by an X account calling itself @MajinBuofficial.

It seems that Apple has set out to amaze us with its new products this year, despite a delay of several months for the iPhone Fold, everything seems to be taking shape, especially with the new iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max with the new dynamic island called (NANO ISLAND)**!

An account using the name Majin Bu was a once reliable source of Apple leaks before they disappeared. However, it is unclear whether this represents a return or is an imposter. The fact that the website is still offline might seem to point to the latter being the more likely possibility, and the idea that Apple would rename it Nano Island seems something of a stretch.

Apple undoubtedly wants to shrink the size of the Dynamic Island over time before it is eventually able to progress to an all-screen display in which both the Face ID module and front-facing camera are embedded beneath the screen.

An attempt to reduce the size of the aperture in the iPhone 18 Pro would not be a surprise, and there have been previous reports suggesting this. However, there is no reason as yet to view these latest claims as providing further evidence.
