As veteran Ebola responders, we think that the attacks on Ebola treatment facilities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a few weeks ago highlight a profound disparity between the development of communities in the Congo Basin and those elsewhere. While much of the world views Ebola through a biosecurity lens — wondering if pathogens will cross borders — mortality remains a daily reality for people in the Congo Basin.
