Developers and designers can now download the betas for Apple’s updated library of symbols, as well as the next version of its tool for creating Liquid Glass app icons. Here are the details.
Following Monday’s WWDC6 keynote, Apple updated its Design Resources portal with assets for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate.
Notably missing were explicit download links to the SF Symbols 8 beta and the Icon Composer 2 beta. However, both are available to download, and you can get them below:
SF Symbols 8 includes multiple new symbols introduced in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27. In total, it features more than 7,000 symbols that can leverage animations , effects, and variable renderings introduced last year.
As for Icon Composer 2, it introduces:
Refraction: Bend light through your icon. Refraction lets layers pick up and transmit color and shape from what’s behind them. Dial in the strength per layer – from a subtle edge bend to lens-like distortion. New Specular Highlights: Crisp, specular highlights elevate and define each layer, preserving contrast at the edges. Choose how highlights align with each layer, either inside or outside, or let Icon Composer decide automatically. Extended Preview: Preview how your icon will render on both this year’s and last year’s operating systems so you can make it look great on both.
