GoKawiilServing up some more retro animated superhero action, X-Men '97 returns to Disney Plus this week for a much-anticipated second season.
Picking up directly after the acclaimed first season's cliffhanger, the new nine-episode series sees the X-Men face a battle across time that looks set to change mutant history forever as they take on their Omega-level nemesis, Apocalypse.
Spanning Ancient Egypt, the 1990s, and the distant future, this latest batch of episodes sees core characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X and Beast joined by several new mutant allies and villains, including Polaris, Havok, Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Mariko and Danger.
Season 2 takes its inspiration from beloved comics The Rise of Apocalypse, Askani'son and The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, and there looks to be more old-school X-Men on the way with a third season of the show already greenlit.

'Marvel's X-Men '97' season 2 release time
Consisting of nine episodes, Marvel's X-Men '97 Season 2 lands on Disney Plus on Wednesday, July 1, with the first three episodes being made available to watch on demand on that date. New episodes will be released weekly from that point, with the final episode arriving on Aug. 12.
