In a video published today on its YouTube channel, iFixIt shows the surprisingly analog process of fully assembling and testing an iPhone battery. Watch it below.
How iPhone batteries are made
The folks at iFixit recently took a trip to China, which has yielded several interesting videos on the company’s YouTube channel.
Just last month, iFixit published a video showing the differences between genuine and knockoff versions of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, AirPods Max 2, and AirPods Pro 3.
Today, iFixit published yet another interesting video, this time walking through the step-by-step process of assembling an iPhone battery.
In the video, shot inside a massive battery factory, Shahram Mokhtari assembles one of iFixit’s replacement iPhone batteries, walking through the various post-manufacturing stages before installing the finished battery in an iPhone and turning it on.
From programming the Battery Management System (BMS) to attaching it to the cell, folding and securing the board, running quality-control tests, and applying the adhesive strips, the video offers an interesting look at just how many manual steps go into turning a bare battery cell into a finished iPhone battery.
