iOS 27 beta 3 lets users fine-tune how Siri sounds

With iOS 27 beta 3, users can now fine-tune how the new Siri AI sounds using separate controls for speaking pace and expressivity. Here are the details.

New Siri gets Pace and Expressivity sliders

During the WWDC26 keynote, Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of Siri Engineering, previewed the new Siri and its ability to let users “customize Siri’s voice like never before,” including controls for expressivity and speaking pace.

In iOS 27 betas 1 and 2, the Pace and Expressivity sliders under Settings > Siri > Voice were present but grayed out. With iOS 27 beta 3, released earlier today, both controls are now active, offering five adjustment levels for each of the two currently available voices.

As soon as the user begins adjusting either slider, Siri starts playing a continuous audio sample that updates in real time to reflect each change. Once they are happy with the balance of pace and expressivity, they can tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to save their selections.

Apple explains that in addition to Siri, these custom settings will also apply to Apple Maps, and Safari.
