Stand ready, riders and flyers of Iron Squad, the next book from Basgiath War College is both coming soon and not exactly what many were speculating it would be. While we aren't getting any new details about the TV show ordered by Prime Video, author Rebecca Yarros announced on Wednesday the next book in the Empyrean Series is called Threshing Day. Though it does not continue the story following the events of Iron Flame, it promises to scratch that dragon itch when it drops on Sept. 29.
If you've read any of the books in the Empyrean Series, you're familiar with the concept of Threshing Day. It's the most important day in a future dragon rider's life, and also the most perilous. This new book promises to be an anthology of 13 stories from the perspective of cadets who are not Violet Sorrengail, but does include at least one story of a rider who knows her better than most. Xaden's Threshing will be one of the 13 stories, which I'm sure will be a calm and totally normal experience for everyone.
Yarros offered few details surrounding the next book, other than it will include 16 pieces of full color art in the deluxe edition of the book and will be something to keep readers busy while she works on the next story in the series. Preorder for the deluxe edition as well as digital and audiobook versions of Threshing Day has already started across Amazon, Bookshop and other book retailers. See you on the Threshing grounds soon, riders.
