Adobe Acrobat now available in WhatsApp Web
Up until now, receiving a PDF on WhatsApp meant having to download it just to open it, with no built-in tools for reviewing or annotating the document.
Adobe today announced that its Acrobat PDF tools are now integrated directly into WhatsApp Web and the WhatsApp app for Windows, allowing users to open, review, and annotate documents without downloading them or leaving the conversation.
The company says that, in addition to standard PDFs, the integration also supports password-protected documents, while files shared in chats also remain protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, “meaning that only those in the chat can read them,” said Adobe.
According to Adobe, the integration reflects both the growing use of WhatsApp on larger screens for tasks such as reviewing contracts, invoices, forms, and assignments, and its broader strategy of bringing Acrobat’s PDF tools to platforms where people already work, “like Chrome, Microsoft360 and Copilot, ChatGPT, Workday and many more.”
