A new Redfin report finds Americans need to earn nearly $110,000 a year to comfortably afford the typical home—about $22,000 more than the median household makes. There’s good news and not-so-good news for prospective homebuyers: The amount of income needed to afford a typical American home is down slightly from last year—but it’s still well above what many households earn.
