Why This Matters

The accidental tease of Harry Potter theme packs on Pixel 11 highlights Google's ongoing efforts to expand customizable features for its devices, appealing to fans and enhancing user experience. This development also signals potential marketing strategies tied to popular franchises, which could influence consumer engagement and brand loyalty in the tech industry.

Key Takeaways

TL;DR We discovered a prompt to “Try Harry Potter themes” on a Pixel 11 series device.

Google hasn’t actually announced any Harry Potter themes just yet.

This comes after we first discovered evidence of Potter-based themes in April.

Google introduced Pixel theme packs last year, and we’ve already had Wicked and SpongeBob packs. We uncovered evidence of Harry Potter theme packs earlier this year, and it looks like the Pixel 11 phones are getting ready for them.

Colleague Adamya Sharma attended the Pixel 11 India launch and discovered a pop-up to “Try Harry Potter themes” on a demo device. Check out the image below.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to view or activate the theme pack. This is still noteworthy as Google hasn’t announced a Harry Potter theme pack just yet. It stands to reason that Google is holding off on the pack’s release to coincide with upcoming releases like the new HBO series or anniversary screenings.

Our own sleuthing earlier this year revealed at least three themes, namely Harry, Hogwarts, and Magic. Each theme will also have its own ringtones, alarms, and notification tones.

The cynic in me thinks these theme packs are basically just ads, and some readers feel the same. But I don’t blame you if you’re looking forward to them. So here’s hoping the newest pack arrives sooner rather than later.
