Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today that Apple will donate to support the relief efforts on the ground following Indonesia’s devastating earthquake. Here are the details.
Apple to donate to Indonesia earthquake relief efforts
Over the past few years, Apple has donated to relief efforts following devastating earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies around the world.
In the past two months alone, the company has supported relief efforts in Venezuela, Southern Europe, and Japan. Today, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company will also donate to relief efforts in Indonesia following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the country over the weekend.
Our hearts are with the people of Indonesia following the devastating earthquake. We are grateful for the first responders giving support and helping those in need. Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground. — Tim Cook (@tim_cook) August 18, 2026
As is customary, Cook did not specify how much Apple will be donating or which organizations will receive the funds.

Beyond its donations following natural disasters and other emergencies, Apple also runs an internal donation program called Employee Giving, which has raised more than $880 million to date through the company’s donation-matching policy.
Since Tim Cook announced his decision to step down as Apple CEO, there has been plenty of discussion about the legacy he is leaving behind. Apple’s focus on philanthropic and humanitarian efforts has been a significant part of his tenure, and hopefully, that is something that will continue under John Ternus’s leadership.
