Apple implemented a Siri AI waitlist in the first developer betas of both iOS 27 and macOS 27. This was likely done to allow the company to assess usage and therefore determine the server capacity required for AI tasks that can’t be carried-out on-device.
The amount of time beta users had to wait varied, with many reporting somewhere in the 1-2 week range. In the meantime, the setting for Siri AI simply read “Joined Waitlist.”
It looks like the Siri AI waitlist will be incorporated into the release versions of the new operating systems. A MacRumors forum member spotted that the company has just added code intended to provide an estimate of how long you may need to wait.
In Beta 7 across OS releases, Apple added new infrastructure to support personalized wait time messages set by a server after a user joins the Siri AI waitlist.
The time estimate is provided by the server, meaning that Apple can vary the timings depending on the balance of demand and capacity.
