The Pixel 11 series just recently launched, and it’s stumbling out of the gate with a video recording problem. If you’ve noticed noisy static in your recordings, you’re not alone. As Android Authority reported last week, a number of buyers have been experiencing this problem. Fortunately, it may not be long before a fix arrives.
To quickly summarize the situation, we spotted reports on Reddit that suggested there was an issue with Video Boost (a Pixel camera feature that enhances video color, lighting, stabilization, and low-light detail). According to the reports, videos captured with this feature on contained static noise. The cause of the issue is unknown, but some attributed it to an Audio Zoom (a feature that boosts the sound of the zoomed-in subject while cutting down background noise) bug.
After discovering these reports, Android Authority reached out to Google for comment. A spokesperson for the company has responded to our request with the following statement: We have identified the cause and developed a software fix that will rollout to users in the coming weeks via the Camera app. Additionally, further performance optimizations will be included in an upcoming monthly Android update.
If you were experiencing this problem on your Pixel 11, you can rest easy knowing that you won’t have to put up with it for much longer. With this problem out of the way, Google can turn its attention to fixing other issues, like Lift to Check being too sensitive.
