Why This Matters

Apple continues to lean on recognizable IP and notable ports to justify Apple Arcade's $6.99 monthly fee, landing an exclusive debut game for the popular Pusheen cartoon cat alongside Terraria. The move shows Apple courting casual and character-fandom audiences rather than competing purely on hardcore gaming, in a market where mobile subscription services have struggled to stand out.

Worth a Look

GUND Pusheen Plush Cat — If Pusheen's Place has you collecting 100+ digital Pusheens, the official GUND plush lets you cuddle the real thing while you play. It's the classic squishy gray tabby that started the whole phenomenon, and it looks right at home next to an iPad running Apple Arcade.

Pusheen is getting her first game, and it will appear exclusively on Apple Arcade. Launching October 1st, Pusheen’s Place lets you collect and care for more than 100 Pusheens as you play minigames and decorate rooms for Pusheenicorn, Pancake Pusheen, and other variations of the cartoon cat.

In the mix of minigames, you’ll “sort color cakes in Snack Stack,” “pop cute Pusheen fruit bubbles in Parfait Pop,” “make delicious matches and blast blockers in Batch Match,” and solve puzzles, according to the game’s description on the App Store. The game’s developers will also continue to add “more Pusheens, decor themes, games and features” over time.
