GoKawiilSomething to look forward to: Control Resonant, the long-awaited sequel to 2019's excellent Control, launches on September 24. That means Remedy Entertainment has announced the final PC system requirements. The good news is it's another game that can run on aging hardware – providing you don't mind playing at 1080p@30fps. The bad news, other than all the settings using upscaling, is that you need a massive 120GB of SSD space.
Remedy has split the PC requirements into two sections: with and without ray tracing/path tracing.
Remedy, to give it credit, has bucked the trend of companies being less than forthcoming about whether their PC requirements only apply when upscaling is used – they do.
That means being able to play the game with a GTX 1070 and a Core i5-8500 is possible, but hitting 1080p@30fps requires upscaling set to quality.
On the opposite end of the scale, enabling path tracing at 4K@60fps with High graphics settings requires not only an RTX 5080, but also upscaling set to performance. The CPU demand is fairly forgiving at this level: a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X.
In addition to requiring 16GB of RAM, another element that's universal across all categories is a hefty 120GB of SSD space. The use of a SSD rather than an HDD has become the standard for most big games these days, assuming you want the intended experience, though 120GB does put Control Resonant in the top half of the list when it comes to storage requirements. It's still a long way off God of War Ragnarök's 190GB, though.
Other features include an uncapped framerate and support for HDR, ultrawide aspect ratios, DLSS 4.5, and FSR 4.1 at launch.
Control Resonant is one of our most Anticipated PC Games of 2026. It certainly appears to be quite a departure from the original, gameplay-wise, moving away from that third-person shooter emphasis and leaning more into action-RPG territory, prioritizing melee combat and player-driven progression. That might not be to everyone's taste, but most of the early previews have been positive.
