TL;DR Multiple YouTube and YouTube Music users are reportedly facing issues loading content.
We’re seeing reports across the iOS and Android apps, as well as the web versions of the two apps.
This glitch comes just days after Google fixed a blank feed bug that affected several users.
Millions of people around the world use YouTube and YouTube Music for their media fix. As you would expect, a platform that large is not always perfect. We recently reported on a blank feed bug on the YouTube app, which Google fixed this week. It now looks like YouTube’s issues didn’t end there, with another problem now appearing online.
According to a Reddit post by an understandably angry user, both the YouTube and YouTube Music apps “hang while loading.” They note the issue persists even after deleting and reinstalling the apps and clearing their cache.
More concerningly, they’ve reportedly been facing this problem for “months.” A quick look at the comments indicates this isn’t an isolated incident, with some facing similar trouble viewing videos on PC.
Looking around Reddit for other complaints, we found one user saying they can’t play videos more than two years old on the Android app, with another chiming in that they can’t play any videos at all on the iOS app. These separate user reports across multiple platforms suggest this may be a broader issue.
Over at the YouTube Music subreddit, one person reports a completely blank home page on the web version (pictured above). However, we’re not seeing too many reports of this just yet. For what it’s worth, both the YouTube Music and standard YouTube apps on mobile and web appear to be functioning normally on a few of our devices.
