Bottom line: Roblox's creator economy is growing fast, but the money isn't spreading evenly. Creators earned about $1.7 billion on the platform over the past year, and the top 10 averaged $65 million each, nearly double what they made in 2024. The median creator, however, took home around $1,500. That gap is the backdrop for Roblox's next big push, which could give its biggest creators a much wider audience.
Roblox is preparing to let developers ship their games outside the Roblox app. The initiative is called Roblox Everywhere, announced at its developers conference in San Jose last week. It will let creators publish their games as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, while Roblox continues to provide the engine, servers, and backend services.
The company hasn't said when Roblox Everywhere will launch or which storefronts will carry the games, but they said the goal is to support storefronts on all platforms, starting with a limited test first. It's not yet clear whether that will eventually include Steam, the Epic Games Store, or GOG.
Several key questions are still up in the air. Roblox hasn't said if players will need a Roblox account, or how its age verification will work in apps sold through third parties. It also hasn't explained how revenue will be split when a Roblox-built game sells on a platform like Steam, which takes its own 30% cut.
One thing Roblox did confirm is that cross-play will be on by default, so people playing a standalone version can join friends in the main Roblox app. In other words, standalone releases will still feed players into Roblox's network rather than split off from it.
The company announced two related features alongside Roblox Everywhere. By the end of the year, players will be able to join Roblox games in Chrome straight from a link, with no installation required and other browsers to follow.
Creators will also be able to add offline single-player modes alongside multiplayer, with early access coming soon and a full release planned by mid-2027.
Roblox also shared updated figures for its creator payouts. Creators earned some $1.7 billion through the Developer Exchange program in the last year (measured July to June 2026), up roughly 50% year over year. The biggest creators are earning far more than they were in 2024, the period covered by Roblox's previous report...
Creator tier Average earnings (2024) Average earnings (July to June 2026) Top 10 $33.9 million $65.7 million Top 100 $6 million $10.8 million Top 1,000 $820,000 $1.4 million
These are average payouts per creator account, and many of the top accounts belong to studios or teams rather than individuals. Creators behind hits like Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot have earned tens of millions of dollars.
