Apple’s next big media event will be this fall’s iPhone 17 unveiling. But another highly anticipated product is rumored to launch soon, possibly before then. A new AirTag 2 is coming, here’s everything we know.
AirTag 2 expected to launch in the next two months
Apple had a busy product launch season earlier this year, with the M4 MacBook Air, iPhone 16e, and more debuting.
But one rumored product that hasn’t yet arrived is AirTag 2.
Following years without a hardware successor, the new AirTag is finally expected to launch soon.

Originally we were expecting a debut around the middle of this year. That’s still possible, as Apple could very likely launch AirTag 2 via a press release. No major media event is needed.
9to5Mac previously reported that code for iOS 18.6 indicates new compatibility for AirTag 2. That software update is expected to ship within the next month—so AirTag 2 could arrive then too.
Some sources indicate Apple’s now targeting a September debut alongside the iPhone 17. That’s certainly possible.
