GoKawiilAfter unveiling the design of its consumer-grade Spectacles back in June, Snap is now announcing that they’ll be available for pre-order starting today with a new 5G carrying case. The company also introduced a new proactive AI agent called Specs Intelligence, which despite being Specs branded, will be available on iPhone and Mac regardless of if you own a pair.
Cellular Specs, in partnership with Verizon
Snap today announced that it’ll be releasing a cellular carrying case for the Snap Specs, allowing you to use your Specs away from home. This case will be available as a separate purchase, or you can purchase it bundled with the glasses for an additional $200, or $2395.
The cellular plan for Specs will cost $10/month for Verizon customers, and $20/month for non-Verizon customers. Outside of the US, Orange in France and EE in the UK will also offer cellular plans for Specs.
Specs remain on track to ship to customers later this fall, though an exact date isn’t available. That said, Snap is opening a demo experience at Westfield Century City in LA starting on October 1st for eager customers who want to try them out early. Verizon stores will also offer demos at a later date.

Specs Intelligence
Snap is also throwing its hat in the personal AI agent race, with a new Specs Intelligence app for iPhone and Mac. Despite being Specs branded, you won’t need to own a pair of Specs to use it – though they do integrate nicely with Specs. Here’s how the company describes the service:
It builds an understanding of your goals, priorities, relationships, and routines from the apps and tools you choose to connect, helping you focus on what matters now while making progress towards your longer-term goals.
Rather than waiting for a prompt, SPECS Intelligence is designed to anticipate when help would be useful and surface relevant information and actions at the right moment. On SPECS AR glasses, it is designed to extend that personal context into the physical world by bringing relevant information directly into view.
