Update: Apple has made the update available on its developer website, though OTA distribution is seemingly still pending. Apple has released a new batch of developer betas for the systems it announced during WWDC25, including macOS Tahoe 26. Here’s what’s new. macOS Tahoe 26 developer beta 3 introduced a new screensaver, and it made it easier to quickly spot which tab is active on Safari. But also suffered from an issue that delayed its rollout on Apple Silicon Macs. In the third beta round, Apple also dialed back the Liquid Glass transparency effect, although the result was much more apparent on iOS 26. The build number for today’s macOS Tahoe 26 beta 4 release is 25A5316i. As always, we’re digging into the revised release and will report back with anything noteworthy. What’s new on macOS Tahoe 26? As announced at WWDC25, macOS Tahoe 26 introduces the Liquid Glass UI overhaul, alongside features like Live Activities on the Mac, a much improved Spotlight with clipboard history and Shortcuts integration, plus a dedicated Phone app and Live Translation for Messages, FaceTime and phone calls. The system is also getting the new Games app, as well as the long-awaited Journal app. Here’s how to install the macOS Tahoe 26 developer beta 4: Backup your Mac Open System Settings Go to General ⇾ Software Update Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates From the dropdown menu in the top-right, select the macOS Developer Tahoe Beta Hit ‘Done’ Any sign of the public beta? As Apple noted during the WWDC25 keynote, public betas are expected to drop this month. In fact, Apple briefly released the macOS Tahoe 26 public beta by mistake yesterday during the rollout of new Sequoia betas (and immediately pulled it), so the official release is likely just around the corner. As for developer beta 4, Apple hasn’t detailed what, if any, new features or changes made their way into the system beyond the usual under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes. But we’re already digging in to see what’s changed and will keep you posted, so be sure to check back soon. As always, if you spot any changes in today’s revised version of macOS Tahoe 26 beta 4, let us know in the comments. AirPods deals on Amazon
