Earlier this year, Apple launched the M4 MacBook Air and I came away very impressed. Heading into Apple’s packed fall launch lineup, you might expect the product to fade into the background of the new and shiny. Here are several reasons, though, why I believe the M4 MacBook Air has its biggest days still ahead.

M4 MacBook Air will remain Apple’s newest Mac this fall, and get all the marketing attention

Out of all of Apple’s early 2025 product launches, the M4 MacBook Air looks set for an especially strong rest of the year.

The iPhone 16e, M3 iPad Air, and A16 iPad have all had their moment. But they’ll be overshadowed this fall by the more exciting, impressive flagship iPhone 17 lineup and the M5 iPad Pro.

In an unusual move for Apple, the company isn’t expected to launch any new Macs this fall.

The M5 MacBook Pro was originally rumored, but Mark Gurman says it’s been delayed into early 2026. And the expected Mac Pro update is MIA.

That means the M4 MacBook Air should benefit from all of Apple’s marketing focus in the all-important fall and holiday season.

With no new Mac on the horizon, the M4 MacBook Air will also get a boost from the increased user awareness that macOS Tahoe brings.

Apple only ships a major new macOS software version once per year. And this year, that update includes a Liquid Glass design overhaul.

When macOS Tahoe is promoted, the M4 MacBook Air will likely be the hardware that gets promoted too.
