Your default apps are the apps your iPhone uses automatically in certain situations. So if you tap a phone number on a website, for example, your iPhone will open your Phone app and place a call to that number. But if you like using a certain browser app, like Chrome or Firefox, you can make that app your iPhone's default browser app.

When Apple released iOS 18.2 in December, that update made it easier to change your iPhone's default apps. You could change a few default apps prior to that update, like your browser, but that update added a few new default app options and centralized the whole process in one menu.

Here's how to change your default apps on your iPhone.

1. Open Settings

2. Tap Apps

3. Tap Default Apps

From this menu you can choose to change different categories of default apps on your iPhone. Here are the categories you can change and Apple's description of each:
