Kyushu University unveils headset-free VR chair using aerial imaging optics
Researchers at Kyushu University's Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering detailed a new VR system in a paper presented at SIGGRAPH Emerging Technologies '26. The chair uses a micromirror array and aerial imaging optics to project a stereoscopic, theater-like scene in front of the user without requiring any headset or head-mounted display.
