Android Authority contrasts Google's approach of weaving Gemini AI into core Android functions like messaging and photography with Apple's more restrained AI rollout on the iPhone 18 Pro. GitHub reported that over the past year it expanded its infrastructure by 4 million CPU cores, 160 petabytes of storage, and 50 Tb/s of networking capacity to cope with a surge in AI-generated code activity. The company said code commits grew sixfold and merged pull requests quadrupled year-over-year, with monthly commits rising from 1.4 billion in April to 7.4 billion by September, and total pushes over the past 12 months exceeding the combined totals of 2024 and 2025.

Garrie, CEO of Law and Forensics, presented frameworks to help CISOs justify AI deployment decisions and preserve evidence in case of disputes or breaches. The approaches include scoring AI deployment risk, documenting board-level risk decisions, and specifying what incident data must be preserved, building on JAMS AI Rules he helped author in 2024 for arbitrating AI disputes.

OpenAI announced it will train its frontier AI models in environments disconnected from the live internet, using instead an offline cache of indexed web material for agent training tasks. Gambit Security reported that over five days in September, a Chinese-speaking attacker used three AI agent frameworks and both open-weight and public AI models to target 105 e-commerce sites, compromising at least 27, including a Fortune 500 company. The attackers stole over 600,000 payment card records from two targets and installed skimmers on five others, spending an average of $25.46 per successfully breached target. Separately, Silverfort researchers said a lab test using Claude Opus achieved full domain compromise from initial access in eight minutes for about $12.
Anthropic has released Claude Duet, a new app built on Opus 5.5 that connects to work tools like Gmail, calendar and Slack to proactively manage tasks for professionals. The app flags priorities, surfaces what needs attention, and indicates what can wait, while including safeguards that block or confirm before sharing sensitive data. Duet is currently in research preview, limited to Pro and Max subscribers, with a waitlist open for others.
Microsoft said the threat actor it tracks as Storm-0940 used compromised application credentials tied to ConnectWise Cloud Backup to try to access more than 2,250 downstream Microsoft 365 customer tenants. In some cases attackers reached privileged cloud access within three hours of targeting, and Microsoft said the group used an agentic AI penetration-testing framework to speed up the campaign. ConnectWise disclosed unauthorized access to its Cloud Backup application identities on Oct. 16 but has not said how attackers first obtained control of them.
1Password unveiled 1Password for Agents, a platform that lets AI agents like Meta's Muse and Grok Bot perform tasks using stored credentials without directly exposing passwords to the agent. The company says further integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic and other partners are planned, following its earlier Claude integration in July. The service is currently available via a waitlist.
With Apple's new Mac Mini M6 now available, retailers are discounting the previous-generation M4 Mac Mini's base configuration (256GB storage, 16GB memory) to $649, $150 off its $799 price. The UAE is moving ahead with its April Cabinet plan to shift 50% of federal government services, sectors, and operations to autonomous AI agents within two years. Minister of State for AI Omar Sultan Al Olama said the country has built a 'control tower agent' and runs continuous audits, combining both AI-based and human review, to oversee how these agents act. He made the remarks at the WEF's Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders in Dubai on October 14.
