Intel seeks FCC waiver to keep using foreign-made factory robots

Intel has petitioned the FCC for an exception covering automated guided vehicles (AGVs) used in its chip fabs to move silicon wafers and materials, after such robots were added to the FCC's Covered List banning foreign equipment. Intel says it relies on AGVs from Japanese suppliers like Murata Machinery and Daifuku, and that no domestic alternatives currently exist. The company is requesting a conditional waiver to keep operating and updating its existing AGV fleet without breaching compliance rules.
