Study finds only 40% of statistics cited by AI chatbots trace to real sources

An analysis examined statistics generated by AI tools in response to common factual queries and found that only about 40% could be traced back to an identifiable study or dataset. The remainder appeared to be approximations, outdated figures, or fabricated numbers presented with unwarranted precision.
