Palantir reported third-quarter revenue of $2.31 billion, beating estimates of $2.18 billion and nearly doubling year-over-year. Net income more than doubled to $1.13 billion, with U.S. commercial revenue climbing 148% to $984 million, edging past U.S. government revenue of $953 million for the first time.
Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies, acquired 15,000 hectares of forest land in Härjedalen, Sweden, from paper company SCA AB for 235 million kronor (about $22 million), through a newly registered firm called Cladonia Skog AB. The deal came to light after local hunters were told their hunting lease on the land was being cancelled, and local authorities said they had no advance notice of the transaction.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp told CNBC that artificial intelligence needs enforceable guidelines and that companies should bear legal liability for harms caused by their AI systems. He went further, suggesting AI labs may need to be nationalized to shield clients from lawsuits tied to advanced AI's risks.
