Amazon refreshes entire Kindle lineup with new aluminum models ahead of device's 20th anniversary

Amazon unveiled redesigned Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft models, each now available in a plastic base tier or an upgraded aluminum version made from 80 percent recycled material. The base Kindle and its aluminum and Kids variants are on sale now, while the Paperwhite and Colorsoft open for preorder and ship by late October; all models are thinner, lighter, have faster-refreshing screens, and meet new EU battery-removal rules.

Amazon has updated its Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft e-readers with thinner, lighter designs, faster page turns, and optional aluminum bodies made from 80% recycled metal. Prices range from $150 for the base Kindle to $320 for the top Colorsoft Signature Edition, with new accessories including a $60 charging dock, an $80 page-turn cover, and a $35 Bluetooth remote called Kindle Click.
