Tech and AI-linked stocks dropped sharply this week after Democrats' strong midterm showing, with Nvidia, AMD, Microsoft, Micron, Broadcom, Tesla and SpaceX all posting steep losses on Thursday. Neocloud providers Nebius, Iren and CoreWeave were hit even harder, falling between 10% and 17%, before U.S. tech shares showed partial recovery Friday morning. Analyst Kyle Rodda of Capital.com linked the slide to investor concern over potential tech regulation under a Democrat-controlled Congress, plus dozens of local ballot measures across 10 states targeting data center construction.
HP has cut the price of its HyperX Omen Max 16 gaming laptop by $600, bringing it down from $2,699.99 to $2,099.99. The configuration includes an AMD Ryzen AI 7 450 processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU with 12GB GDDR7 VRAM, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD, with a 16-inch display available in OLED or IPS LCD at up to 1600p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate.
Veeam issued an advisory warning that its Linux-based Software Appliance virtual machines for Backup & Replication can intermittently fail to boot on hosts using certain AMD EPYC processors, including the 7262, 7302 and 7F72 models. The failure stems from a jitterentropy health check run during early boot in FIPS mode, which can fail on these chips and trigger a kernel panic, halting startup. The issue affects Software Appliance version 13.1 and later, and can recur after reboots or kernel-updating patches.
AMD CEO Lisa Su said in a Yahoo Finance interview that AMD now identifies primarily as a data center company, with that segment making up about 63% of its record $13.4 billion Q3 2026 revenue, up 97% year-over-year. Meanwhile, AMD's gaming revenue dropped 40% from a year earlier to $773 million, which Su attributed largely to AI data centers consuming memory and components and driving up GPU prices.
