Rhind Mathematical Papyrus details ancient Egyptian fraction and math tables
The Rhind Mathematical Papyrus, copied by the scribe Ahmes, records a title page explaining its origins and a series of mathematical tables and problems, including a 2/n table converting fractions with odd denominators into Egyptian fractions and a 1–9/10 table of similar conversions. Ahmes states he copied the work from an older source dating to the reign of a previous king, situating the document within a long scribal tradition.
