US software developer job postings up 15% since Claude Code launch

Indeed Hiring Lab data shows U.S. software-development job postings have risen nearly 15% since February 2025, even as overall job postings declined and AI tools write an increasing share of code. GitHub reported that AI agents are now involved in one in three pull requests, up from fewer than one in ten a year earlier.

New 'livenerf' benchmark tracks whether Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 degrades after launch

An open-source project called livenerf has begun a 30-day daily benchmark of Claude Opus 5.5, which launched September 22, 2026, to test long-standing claims that Anthropic quietly degrades models after release. As of September 29, the project has collected 6 of 10 baseline days using a fixed harness, pinned CLI version, and a panel of 2,336 GPQA Diamond and MMLU-Pro questions, with no missed days so far. The first statistical comparison window won't be possible until around October 24, 2026.

Anthropic confirms Claude outage affecting login and other services

Anthropic reported elevated error rates across Claude, Claude Code and Claude Cowork, and says it is now in recovery mode after mitigating some of the initial impact. Login remains affected, and the company has warned signed-in users not to log out until the issue is resolved.

Developer argues MCP protocol has outlived its usefulness as LLMs advance

A developer who attended an MCP-focused industry event says the Model Context Protocol, released by Anthropic in November 2024 and later handed to the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation, was designed for weaker, less agentic models than exist today. As adoption exploded, users began overloading context windows by connecting many MCP servers at once, prompting platforms like Composio, MintMCP, and Pipedream to build workaround tools that centralize credentials and trim tool lists.

Anthropic confirms stolen session keys let hackers drain Claude subscribers' tokens

UK-based AI consultant Grant de Swardt found his Claude Max subscription burning through tokens even when he wasn't using the service. Anthropic investigated and told him a compromised session key had been used to generate unauthorized OAuth tokens, allowing a third party to consume his allotted usage. The company suspended his account, wiped his active sessions, and issued a partial refund but could not explain how the credentials were obtained.

Anthropic Tops Fast Company's 2026 Best Workplaces for Innovators List

Anthropic has been ranked No. 1 on Fast Company's Best Workplaces for Innovators 2026 list, with recognition tied partly to Claude Code, a tool originally built internally for engineers to test AI models and assist with coding. The tool spread organically inside the company before Anthropic released it publicly in early 2025, later evolving into the broader Claude Cowork product launched in early 2026.

Anthropic to cut Claude Code weekly usage limits by 17% after Sept 14

Anthropic announced it will permanently raise Claude Code's standard weekly usage limits by 25% for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans starting September 14. However, this replaces a temporary 50% boost currently in effect, meaning users will actually see a 17% reduction in usage compared to what they have today. Anthropic initially framed the change as an increase before deleting the post and issuing a clarification acknowledging the cut.
